Prioritise the experiences and perspectives of people living in the global periphery, whose voices have long been neglected.
This site aims to raise awareness about the discourse on disability and development rooted in an epistemic perspective of the Global North and the colonial roots of Empire, in an obsession with naming and demarcating human differences where the use of language to label and categorize the bodies and minds of others is linked to a colonial mindset. The marginalization of disabled people is part of a larger colonial project of assigning negative values to all forms of diversity and difference, labeling them as deviations and essentially synonymous with “disability.”
