Dutch photographer living and working in Sweden.
Specialised in old photographic techniques
Landscape and art photographer Geertjan Plooijer
Geertjan was born in 1957 in Utrecht.
His parents photographed and filmed. On his 12th birthday, he got his first camera and started taking pictures, spending a lot of time in his parents' darkroom.
After military service, he studied photography in London and obtained his degree in photography there.
His photography of landscapes and art is influenced by Edward Weston, Man Ray and Izis.
After having a photo studio in Amsterdam and Friesland for a number of years, he moved to Mörlunda in Sweden where he still lives and works as a photographer and artist.
About 65% of his work is done with large format cameras and film.
Due to the digitization of photography, he has increasingly turned to the old film and photo technology. This is in contrast to the way photography is often treated these days.
All his prints of old techniques are handmade and printed in daylight.
His works are included in various collections at home and abroad.
