Deserted in a land of penguins, acoustics and musical streams; Jodie Reid is venturing to share her melodies with the world. Hello Waddles!
Hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa; Jodie Reid has established herself as an acoustic/alternative rock singer-songwriter with an enthusiasm for penguins and all things natural. She has released a diverse selection of songs with subjects ranging from volcanos to love and bed bugs.
Completing her first song at the age of 12, Jodie has learnt to respect the process of creating music through her studies, earning a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in Vocal Performance (2018) as well as a PGCE in Music (FET) and Creative Arts (SP). She enjoys exploring genres outside of her comfort zone when partaking in collaborations, while her solo work showcases an abundance of acoustic influences.
Jodie played her first live performance in 2017 at a local Mardi Gras. Since then, she has been active in the gigging industry, gaining the opportunity to open for the likes of Jesse Clegg and Justin Serrao.
To date, Jodie has released four albums namely: ‘Secondary Sight’- (July, 2019), ‘Celtic Commotion' (May, 2020), ‘Robust Rebellion’ - (July, 2021) and 'Echoes Exposed' - (July 2022). Her latest single 'Fade Away' reached number 9 in Mix FM's TOP 40 on the Just Plain Drive charts.
In addition to her solo projects, Jodie has taken part in numerous collaborations through programs like The International Songwriters Camp in Haarlem, Netherlands (2017) as well as Nandos Music Exchange (2018) in London, United Kingdom. Her latest collaborations include ‘Tick Tock’ with Ken Waters (Canada), 'Dreaming' and 'Tiptoe'with Drawing on Scars (USA).
